WEST Cheshire AC have celebrated a flawless start to their 2009 track and field season.
The Ellesmere Port and Chester-based club’s senior squad clinched success in the opening round of the Northern League Division Two West at Warrington.
Dave McKay powered his way to a double success from the men’s hammer (45.45m) and javelin (59.83m) competitions, while Robbie Dagnall won the long jump (5.92m).
Nicola Gore captured maximum points from her victories in the shot (11.14m) and discus (34.96m), alongside her elder sister Caroline who claimed a B discus win with 23.25m.
Niamh Reilly (33.19m) teamed up with Emily Fisher (30.41m) for a double success in the javelin, while Danielle Erskine (18.2) and Gemma Hale (20.2) scored victories from the 100m hurdles.
Sian Kelman (5.24m) and Emily Clarke (5.11m) won their respective long jump events.
Bryony Potter, Shona Valentine, Leah Ferrie, and Rachel Stoakley combined to clock 51.6 seconds for success in the 4x100m relay.
The opening round of the Young Athletes League at Ellesmere Port provided West Cheshire AC with a home win at Cheshire Oaks High School.
Robbie Dagnall (24.0) and Stephen Jones (25.0) won in the under 17 men’s 200m, while Aidan Stoakley (52.8) and Dave Donkin (58.3) claimed success in the 400m. Richard Farley won the shot (8.76m).
Tom Booth rounded the U17 men’s 400m hurdles for a 60.3 seconds victory.
Tom Kellett won the U15 boys hammer (31.72m) and Joseph O’Riordan (9.42m) took the shot.
James McMahon (14.7) and Alex Kirk (16.7) teamed up for U13 boys 75m hurdles victories, while James won the shot (6.20m) and Alex (1.30m) won the high jump.
Leah Ferrie produced an impressive U17 women’s 100m (13.2), 200m (27.1) and 300m (43.9) sprint triple.
Gemma Hale won her 80m hurdles (13.8), while Emily Clarke won the discus (17.43m), long jump (4.73m), and triple jump (10.17m).
Alice McMahon grabbed glory in the U15 girls 100m (13.2) and 200m (26.6) and Kelly Baker won the shot (9.26m). Amy Williams won the U13s long jump with 4.22m.
West Cheshire concluded the competition by securing five sprint relay victories.
Fixtures this weekend include tomorrows Christleton 5k Road Race, the Cheshire Track and Field Championships on Saturday and Sunday at Victoria Park, Warrington, the Salford 5k Road Race on Saturday and the South Cheshire 20 Miles Road Race at Shavington Sports Centre, Crewe, on Sunday.
