MORE than 200 runners were greeted by ideal conditions for the 22nd annual Christleton 5k on Friday.

There was no catching Liverpool Harrier Jonny Mellor along the village’s picturesque lanes as he clocked a course record time of 14:07 minutes.

Second was Tom Humphries from Cannock in 14:21 and he was followed in third by Andy Norman, from Altrincham, in 14:39.

First home for the ladies was Heather Timmins from Warrington in 17:28.

James Ellis scooped the under 17 male prize with a fantastic time of 16:55.

First past the finishing line for host club Tattenhall Runners was Liz Crawshaw in 19:01, a fantastic effort after a long time out injured. Club-mates Jo Marsden (19:06), Sara Atkinson, 19:39, Mike Whiteside (19:52) and Haydn Johnson (25:23).

Dan Harris was West Cheshire AC’s first man home, clocking 17:25 for 48th position.

He was joined by club colleagues Andrew Clague (56th in 17:43), Julian Clarke (75th in 18:46), Alan Bevan (86th in 19:16), Andrew Hetherington (114th in 20:34), Neil McIntyre (129th in 20:58), Eleanor Robinson (143rd in 21:41), Brian Beattie (173rd in 23:35) and Tony Thackray (202nd in 25:43).
