A WEST CHESHIRE AC athlete experienced a day to remember at Warrington’s Victoria Park as he won six gold medals.

All-rounder Dave McKay was in fine form when he turned out for the Ellesmere Port-based club in round two of the Northern Track and Field League (Division Two West).

He won the 110m hurdles in a time of 18.2 seconds, powered the hammer to a winning mark of 44.98m, spun the discus to a new personal best distance of 36.09m, launched the javelin to a winning mark of 60.32m, hit 12.81m for victory in the shot put and secured success in the B triple jump with 11.11m.

Port resident McKay’s stunning haul was the highlight of an excellent day of competition for the West Cheshire club.

Tom Booth clocked 58.1 seconds for success in the 400m hurdles and posted 18.3 seconds for a B 110m hurdles win, while Andrew Gore catapulted himself to a winning clearance of 3.40m in the pole vault and added a success in the B discus with 23.76m.

Abi Williams clocked 71.7 seconds for success in the women’s 400m hurdles, alongside Niamh Reilly’s 29.95m throw for victory in the javelin.

Nicola Gore (36.93m) and Kelly Baker (24.40m) teamed up for a double success story in the discus, while Gore won the B shot with 10.15m.

Danielle Erskine (5.08m) and Emily Clarke (5.07m) scored a double for the club in the long jump, while Clarke (10.87m) and Olivia Montez-Brown (10.74m) grabbed glory in the triple jump.

Shona Valentine (27.2 seconds in the B 200m), Emma Johnson (65.2 seconds in the B 400m), Jenni Potter (18.6 seconds in the B 100m hurdles) and Nola Harrison (1-80m in the B pole vault) also tasted success.

Valentine teamed up with Rachel Treloar, Laura Rigby and Alice McMahon to clinch West Cheshire a winning time of 51 seconds in the 4x100m relay.

Valentine, Erskine and Johnson then joined forces with Bryony Potter to earn West Cheshire second spot in the 4x400m relay in a time of four minutes 30.8 seconds.

West Cheshire topped the day’s standings with 413 points.
