WEST CHESHIRE AC runner Sonny Dean secured a podium place at the UK Cross Country Challenge at Sefton Park in Liverpool.

The youngster finished third in the under 11 boys race with an impressive time of seven minutes 36 seconds.

He was joined at the fixture by club-mate Jack Chapman who negotiated the U13 boys race to finish 35th in 12:01, ahead of Jac Goodall (65th in 12:43) and Rory Willson (113th in 14:10).

Issy Clarke finished 53rd in the U13 girls race with a time of 13:43, while her elder sister Katie finished 58th in the U15 girls race n 12:48.

Cameron Weaver claimed 74th spot in the U15 boys race in a time of 11:37.

Mark Davies was the first of three West Cheshire AC finishers in the Liverpool and District League men’s race at the same event, posting 44th place in 39:05, ahead of Luke Ellis (117th in 45:34) and Dave Hough (141st in 49:59).

West Cheshire AC’s annual general meeting takes place tomorrow at the Cheshire County Sports Club, Upton (7.30pm start).

Entries are being accepted for the Chester Round the Walls Race being organised by West Cheshire AC from Chester Racecourse on Boxing Day (11am start).
