KELLY Baker secured a podium place at the UK Schools Games.
The talented West Cheshire AC thrower hit 11.39m for third position in the shot put at Sheffield's Don Valley Stadium.
The UK Schools Games are a multi-sport event for the UK’s elite young athletes of school age.
Baker, who finished eighth at this year’s shot event at the English Schools Championships at Gateshead with 10.66m, lives in Ellesmere Port and is a pupil of Bishops’ High School in Chester.
Elsewhere, West Cheshire AC registered a string of victories at their Stanney Oaks track in Ellesmere Port at the final round of the Cheshire Track and Field League.
Danielle Erskine clocked a winning time of 27.8 seconds in the women’s 200m.
Olivia Montez-Brown (1.50m) and Laura Rigby (1.35m) celebrated a double success story in the high jump, while Montez-Brown (8.40m) and Jenni Potter (7.48m) grabbed glory in the shot.
Sam Rimmer won the men’s B long jump (5.29m) alongside Tom Booth (5.70m), who clocked four minutes, 51.3 seconds for his 1,500m and 24.8 seconds in his 200m.
Connor Norbury won the U15 boys 800m in 2:20.7 while James McMahon won the shot (8.65m) and posted 13.4 in his 100m.
Elijah Montez-Brown (14.8), Taylor Kearns (14.5), Joseph Morrison (15.5) and Owen Andrews (14.8) ran in the U13 boys 100m, while Cameron Weaver (5:00.9), Harry Britton (5:24.9), and Joseph Morrison (6:13.8) completed the 1,500m.
Emily Ball (29.5), Sophie Percival (31.3) and Ellen McMahon (32.9) competed in the U15 girls 200m, while McMahon (2:50.2) and Ball (2:49.7) completed the 800m. Ball won the B shot (8.67m).
Bethany Lewis (1.25m) and Alice Barnsley (1.25m) secured a double success story in the U13 girls high jump, while
William Scott (20m) and Jac Goodall (19.06m) teamed up for a double victory in the U11 boys soft javelin.
Emma Howe (12.82m) and Ellie Finn (11.45m) scored maximum points with success in the U11 girls soft javelin.
