A FIELD of 400 pupils got on their marks for the Chester Primary Schools District Athletics Championships.

Overleigh St Mary’s took the top team prize at Stanney track in Ellesmere Port last Wednesday, with Upton Heath finishing second while Huntington and Christleton tied for third.

The boys’ 200m was won by Max Carter (Overleigh St Mary’s), while the girls’ event was won by Bethany Newis (Upton Heath).

Harry Pickering (Saughall) and Jessica Renner (Christleton) won their respective 800m events.

In the 55m races, there were Year 3 victories by Daniel Lokko (Upton Heath) and Kate Kenworthy (Tarporley), while Kyle John (Highfield) and Olivia McCormick (Ashton Hayes) claimed the Year 4 titles.

In the 75m sprints, Will Cotgrave (Overleigh St Mary’s) and Mia Williams (Boughton Heath) were the Year 5 winners.

The Year 6 crowns went to Conor Rowbottom (Christleton) and Ellie Rigby (Mill View).

The Year 3 and 4 mixed relay saw Huntington seal the win, while in the boys’ relay, Christleton ran out victors. The girls’ title went to Upton Heath.
