A WEST Cheshire AC athlete is celebrating a record-breaking international success story.

Multi-eventer Olivia Montez-Brown was a member of the England Schools team that won the World Schools Athletics Cup in the Czech Republic and broke the record points total by 17 points.

Olivia, 17, who lives in Ellesmere Port and is a West Cheshire College student, finished third in the long jump with 5.48m and was fifth overall in the 100m hurdles.

She is a member of the Cheshire team that will be in action at this weekend’s English Schools Track and Field Championships.

Matthew Pagan, Zac Barnsley and Alice McMahon both secured double sprint victories for West Cheshire AC at Blackburn in the third round of the Youth Development Track and Field Upper League.

Pagan posted 11.7 and 23.7 seconds in the under 20 men’s 100m and 200m respectively, while Barnsley won the U17 men’s 100m (11.7) and 200m (23.8), and McMahon won the U20 women’s 100m (12.8) and 200m (25.9).

Fixtures this week include the Deestriders Off Road Grand Prix Race at Tate Sports and Social Club, Shotton, tomorrow (7.30pm start) and the third round of the Northern Track and Field League for West Cheshire AC at Litherland, on Sunday (11am start).

Stanney Oaks track in Ellesmere Port will host a Year 7 inter-counties schools track and field match between Cheshire and Merseyside on Monday (5pm start).
