JODIE Spencer led West Cheshire AC home at the latest Manchester Cross Country League match at Boggart Hole Clough, Blackley, North Manchester.

Spencer built on her fine performance at Sefton Park, Liverpool, the previous week in the Cross Challenge Race, by finishing second junior woman and fifth lady overall with in a time of 26 minutes and 52 seconds.

Spencer was joined in the race by Grace O’Rourke who posted 32nd place in a time of 30:52.

Andrew Clague finished ninth in the men's race, with a time of 38:06 while

Josh Hinchly (sixth in 9:20) and Jac Goodall (12th in 9:56) both completed the under 11 boys race.

Amy Hinchly (13th in 9:10) completed the U13 girls event.

Meanwhile, Mark Povey completed the Liverpool Santa 5k Run in a time of 21 minutes seven seconds alongside his father, Peter.

Elsewhere West Cheshire AC members wanting to compete in this season's Cheshire County Cross Country Championships at Forest Park, Birchwood, Warrington on Saturday January 8, should contact club cross country secretary Mike Lamb or a club official as soon as possible.

Entries are also now being taken by Mike Lamb for the English National Cross Country Championships, taking place at Alton Towers, on Saturday, February 19.
