YOUNG guns from West Cheshire AC were in medal-winning form at the Tom Pink Relays.

The event, supported by the AAA, England Athletics and local athletics associations, was staged at Sportcity, Manchester last Thursday.

It included a Sportshall pentathlon and a timed endurance run, and was open to all schools and clubs.

Annabel Hemingbrough, Gemma Davies, Raimi Harrison, Max Ross, Sion Roberts, Charlie Potts, Harvey Tegg, Ben Grinter and Charlie Price represented West Cheshire.

Hemingbrough (490 metres) and Davies (475m) ran gold medal-winning distances in the girls endurance event, while Harrison posted 400m for a bronze medal.

Ross (550m), Roberts (535m), Potts (535) and Tegg (510m) won gold medals in the boys event, while Grinter (490m) and Price (460m) claimed silver medals.

Hemingbrough compiled a gold medal-winning pentathlon score of 241 points, while Harrison (180) and Davies claimed bronze awards.

Ross (229 points) and Roberts (220) produced gold award performances in the boys pentathlon scores, while Potts (221), Grinter (199), Price (190) and Tegg (183) were presented with bronze awards.

Evan Roberts (905m) won a gold award in the 13-year-old boys endurance competition, ahead of other gold award club-mates Sam Grinter (770m) and Jamie Hawes (765m).

Hawes compiled a silver award from the pentathlon with 261 points, while Roberts (236) and Grinter (221) won bronze and step 10 awards.

Sophie Hemingbrough (745m) won the 12 year old girls endurance gold award and a silver from the pentathlon with 253 points, and Keane Harrison (640m) took bronze from the same age group event and a step 10 pentathlon points total of 221.

Tamsin O’Kkeefe and Emma Howe secured gold medal performances at the Trafford Open Medal Meeting.

O’Keefe won the under 11 girls 600m (1:54.3) and claimed bronze medals in the 150m (23.9) and long jump (3.54m) respectively, while Howe won the U13 girls javelin with 28.78m.

Jenni Potter, of West Cheshire AC, powered her way to a new personal best throw and English Schools qualifying mark of 38.91m at the Trafford Grand Prix Meeting, where Emily Ball won the U17 ladies discus with 31m and the shot with 9.73m.

Husband and wife Jason and Jan Chapman represented West Cheshire AC at the Marrakech Half Marathon. Jason finished 1,231st male in one hour 50 minutes 54 seconds, and Jan clocked 1.55:56 for 101st spot in the ladies race.

West Cheshire’s Max Woods completed the Comrades Ultra-Distance 90k race between Durban and Pietermaritzburg in a time of 10.50:55.

Forthcoming fixtures include the English Schools Track and Field Cup match at Stanney on Tuesday, while the Cheshire Schools Minors (Year Seven) Track and Field Championships take place at Crewe on Wednesday.
