WEST Cheshire AC starlet Olivia Montez-Brown picked up two gold medals at the Northern Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The talented multi- eventer secured success at Sheffield in the under 17 women’s 60m hurdles and U17 long jump.

Olivia, a 15-year-old pupil at Ellesmere Port Catholic High School, posted a winning time of 9.21 seconds to clinch a gold medal in the 60m hurdles final after winning her qualifying heat in 9.23 seconds.

She added to her medal collection with a 5.21m long jump victory, finishing two centimetres ahead of runner-up Rhiann Beaumont, from Preston Harriers.

West Cheshire AC chairman Dennis Wall said: “Olivia has gone from strength to strength in track and field events since joining West Cheshire AC as an under 13-year-old and will now be aiming to build on her fabulous start to the year.”

Olivia was joined on the medal rostrum by West Cheshire quartet Kelly Baker, Danielle Erskine, James McMahon and Victoria Anderson.

Baker retained the Northern U17 women’s shot-put title with a throw of 11.72m, beating second-placed Kaitlin Enderwick (Middlesbrough and Cleveland).

Erskine claimed a silver medal from the U20 women’s long jump with a leap of 5.18m for second position.

McMahon hit 9.88m for a bronze medal in the U15 boys shot put and Anderson cleared 1.65m for third spot in the U20 women’s high jump.

Fixtures this weekend include the West Cheshire AC schools cross country races at Stanney Oaks Track on Saturday (first race 10am).

West Cheshire AC’s annual presentation evening takes place this Friday at Chester Rugby Club (7.30 start), and the Four Villages Half Marathon is this Sunday at Helsby (11am start).
