STEPHANIE Owens and Nicola Gore have helped power their club into the Northern Seniors Track and Field League Division One promotion match.

The pair produced a string of impressive throwing performances for West Cheshire AC, who finished runners-up to Division Two West winners Preston Harriers after the fourth and final round staged at Litherland.

Stephanie, making a return to action after a serious foot injury, won the hammer (46.21m) and discus (36.46m) and B shot (10.08m).

And Nicola provided important back-up with 30.92m for second spot in the B hammer, a winning throw of 27.83m in the B discus, victory in the shot with a put of 10.56m and second spot in the B javelin with 23.75m.

Sian Kelman won the 100m (12.5) and long jump (5.60m), and finished second in the triple jump with 10.07m.

Rachel Stoakley finished second in the B 100m (13.1), while Shona Valentine (27.0) and Bryony Potter (26.8) were third and first respectively in the 200m, and Bryony finished third in the 400m (60.1).

Kate Titlow claimed an impressive 3,000m victory in 10 minutes 45.9 seconds, while Rebecca Grimes posted 80.7 seconds for fifth spot in the 400m hurdles.

Carl van Schie (3.60m) and John Manning (2.60m) posted maximum points from the pole vault, and Dave McKay won the javelin (62.01m) and shot (12.11m).

Van Schie spun the discus to a winning mark of 37.91m, while Andrew McKay bagged victories in the B hammer (37.29m) and B javelin (41.26m).

Fixtures this weekend include the Cheshire Track and Field League third round on Sunday at Bebington Oval (1pm start), and the Great Warford 10-mile road race near Alderley Edge on Sunday, which is part of the Cheshire Grand Prix Series (10am start).
