WEST Cheshire AC starlet Kelly Baker was left disappointed on Sunday – despite matching the achievements of Olympic medallists Kelly Sotherton and Mark Lewis-Francis at the Aviva UK Sportshall Final in Birmingham.

The 15-year-old Bishops’ High School student claimed under 15s girls shot put bronze at the big LG Arena event with an 11.44m throw.

Her performance ensured she once more wrote her name into the Sportshall history books alongside the likes of past winners Sotherton and Lewis-Francis, who tasted success in 1992 and 1998 respectively.

But Kelly, who won silver last year, said: “I am not really too happy with my bronze because I was hoping for more.”

Kelly’s West Cheshire AC clubmates Charlotte Williamson, Emily Ball and Amy Williams were part of the Cheshire team that topped the U13s girls standings, with Charlotte and Amy clinching silver medals in the sprint replay.

Two more Wests wonders, James McMahon and Daniel Vickers, won U13s boys sprint relay silver for Cheshire.
