DAVE Alexander claimed a top-five place at the Wirral Multi-Terrain League third round, held at Rivacre Valley.
The West Cheshire AC runner posted a time of 22 minutes 40 seconds for fourth position and was supported by Graham Earlam (16th in 24:15), Russell Kirk (21st in 24:35), Andrew Clague (23rd in 24:39) and Gary Withers (26th in 24:44) to earn West Cheshire’s men second team position behind Wirral.
Danny Meadows secured fourth place after finishing the junior race in 11 minutes 59 seconds, ahead of James Ellis (eighth in 12:45) and David Bain (11th in 13:47).
Gemma Mayled finished third in the girls’ race with 14:29, ahead of Olivia Beaney (fifth in 16:16).
Fixtures this weekend include the North Wales Cross Country League first round on Saturday, at Colwyn Bay (2pm start) while Sunday sees the Great North Run held from Newcastle Upon Tyne, the Macclesfield Half Marathon and the Flintshire 10k Road Race, from Mold (noon start).
