BRYONY Potter sprinted into the spotlight at the English Schools’ Track and Field Championships.

The West Cheshire AC member, representing Merseyside, clinched fifth position in the senior girls 200m final with a time of 25.56 seconds at Sheffield’s Don Valley Stadium.

Bryony clocked a time of 25.6 seconds for fifth place in her qualifying heat.

Upton’s Sian Kelman also took part, representing Cheshire, and clocked 25.9 seconds for fifth position in her heat.

Alice Jennings, of Chester Catholic High, was unfortunate in the 75m hurdles.

She led the junior girls heat before clipping the third hurdle to finish sixth with a time of 12.10 seconds.

Fixtures this weekend include the final round of the Young Athletes Track and Field League at Carlisle on Sunday.

A coach has been booked for athletes and officials and places must be secured in advance. Those travelling should assemble at Cheshire Oaks High School, Ellesmere Port, for 7.30am.

There is also the Packwood 10k Race tomorrow night and the Burtonwood Five Mile Road Race at Warrington on Saturday and the West Cheshire AC Endurance Running Meeting on Tuesday, July 21, at Cheshire County Sports Club, Upton (8.30pm).
