HELSBY Runners have had a busy week, taking part in the Chester Spring Five and Sunday’s Borders League meeting at Prestatyn.

In the Spring Five at the Cheshire County Sports Club, Adair Broughton was the first Helsby finisher in 29 minutes and 14 seconds. That was enough to secure him 32nd place in a 300-plus field.

He was followed home by Helsby clubmates Ian Landucci (83rd in 31:37), Edward Halliwell (105th in 33:06), Gareth Boyd (118th in 33:20), Geoff Shaw (153rd in 34:26), Jane Ashbrook (159th in 34:36), Albert Berry (199th in 36:28), Vanessa Griffiths (211th in 37:08), Graham Lloyd (329th in 44:30) and Janet Shaw (333rd in 44:53).

Helsby athletes then made the trip across the border to North Wales for some Borders League action.

Once again, Broughton was their first man home – clocking 30:33 for 31st place.

Next to finish for Helsby was Ashbrook (104th in 35:16).
