WHEELCHAIR basketball ace Anna Jackson is targeting an international recall - but she needs a little bit of help from you.
The 35-year-old is in desperate need of a lighter sports wheelchair, which would help give her that extra edge to impress the Great Britain selectors.
To afford the £3,500 price tag, she is appealing to any business or individual who can give her a hand.
Anna, a warrant officer with Ellesmere Port Air Cadets, is captain of Chester Wheelchair Jets, who train every Wednesday at Sutton High School.
She said: 'A new chair would make an awful lot of difference to me on the court. I would be much quicker and more manoeuvrable and it could be the key to me helping the club lift a trophy and for me to regain a GB vest.'
Since retiring from playing hockey in 1997 due to a chronic knee condition that has left her with limited mobility, Anna has enjoyed an impressive career as a basketball player on four wheels.
The disability consultant was selected to join the Great Britain women's squad in 1998 and has played in two European championships, two World Cups and at the 2000 Paralympic Games in Sydney.
She missed out on selection for the Athens Paralympics in 2004 but, after a return to form with the Jets and renewed hunger for the game, she is targeting the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, the 2010 World Championships in Birmingham and then, ultimately, the 2012 Paralympic Games in London.
She added: 'Playing for Great Britain is absolutely fantastic, it's a real buzz. To pull on the GB vest for the first time and get out on that court is just amazing.
'Those are the memories that you live for and I want to experience it again. To roll out at the Paralympics in front of your home crowd would be a dream come true.'
As well as chasing a return to the international fold, Anna is trying to help the Jets reach the play-offs for Division Three of the National Wheelchair Basketball League.
The Jets, who play at the Darland Sports Centre in Rossett, are on target for one of the four play-off places up for grabs at the end of the season.
She said: 'At club level, we have had a fantastic year. We brought in three new players and a new coach and that has made all the difference.'
