HOOLE’S Wendy Locker continued her recent run of good form, picking up a win in the Thursday Rovers match at Hampton Springs.

The Chester Tackle Locker angler managed to edge out Holywell’s Les Picken by a few ounces. Drawn on peg seven of Meadow Pool, Locker opted to fish for barbel in her swim, bagging 32lb 6oz. Picken’s mixed bag of exactly 32lb caught on peg 40 of Long Island gave him second spot.

In Saturday’s open match at Hampton Springs, Tattenhall angler Simon Knibbs did just enough to see off a challenge from Ellesmere Port’s Nick Roberts (40lb 6oz) to gain second spot. Using a mixture of pellet and maggot at 13m and in the margins of peg 28 on Long Island, Knibbs bagged 40lb 12oz of chub, skimmers, crucians and carp.

The first two matches of the Hampton Springs Individual League were competed in by anglers concurrently with the Easter Sunday and Easter Monday Opens. There are six matches in total running over the next few weeks, with the best four weights counting. Keith Bean tops the leader board with a total weight of 82lb 6oz.

Members of Oaklands AC competed at Yew Tree Fishery, Thornton Hough. A mixture of small carp and tench that fell to maggot, gave Blacon’s John Woodrow the win. Mark Davies, of Saltney, ran in second with exactly 18lb of carp taken to worm on the pole. He was followed by John Tyreman, of Boughton, with 17lb 8oz.

Cheshire Fishing, Tattenhall, has produced good bags for pleasure anglers. Brian Fook Jnr, from Chester, bagged 50lb of skimmers and 20lb of carp weighing up to 4lb on corn and pellet.

Treetops Fishery has continued to produce some good trout.

Frodsham fly angler Godfrey Hulse caught a 4lb 12oz specimen on a Montana from the Kingfisher Pool along with 17 other fish.
