IT was a day of good catches on the Castrol SAS outing from the boat Machatcha out of Aberdovey.
Brian Quarterman took a 15-0-0 pollock while Stuart Birks, Jim Fellows and Mervin Ramasinghe each took 13-0-0 pollocks.
Rivacre AS tried their luck on the Red Lion section of Weaver, and Ian Brocklehurst took skimmers to weigh 7-9-0, which was too good for Wayne Moore on 6-11-0.
The Caldy AS fished their final match of the year on a club pond, and winner was Geoff Day with 5-7-0, clear of Paul Russell on 4-6-0.
Graham Quayle won the Wirral AC match on the Border Fishery. His carp total of 33-10-0 put him clear of Mark Kendall with same for 28-4-0.
Rod ‘n’ Reel members were among the front runners in last Sunday’s open match on the Hampton Springs Fishery. Second was Graham Lewis with 66-2-0 of carp, with Rob Denny with 64-12-0 in third. The last Sunday evening match is this week with the draw at 3pm.
Steve Openshaw won both the week’s open matches on the Lingmere Fishery. In the Thursday match he took carp for 86-3-0, followed by Peter Price on 82-9-0. In the Saturday match Steve took carp and bream for 43-2-0, leading Dave Woodworth on 40-6-0.
The Grove Fishery at Backford was popular with Ellesmere Port carp fishers last week. Andy Williams lured seven carp between 6-0-0 and 12-0-0 to halibut pellet. Steven Black took a 16-0-0 common carp and 17-0-0 mirror carp to luncheon meat and Christopher Smith bagged a 21-3-0 mirror and 9-0-0 common to floating breadcrust.
