ROB Denny was the top rod in Sunday’s open match at Hampton Springs Fishery with a triple-figure weight.

Alternating between corn and meat at 5m in different swims on either side of peg 28 on Rock Pool, the in-form Ellesmere Port angler bagged a stunning 110lb of carp and silvers for the win – a haul to remember which included some superb specimen carp of up to 10lb in weight.

Jeff Grantham celebrated victory in the Rivacre AC match on the Horseshoe Pass at Spring Lea Fishery near Shrewsbury on Saturday with an excellent 51lb 4oz bag of carp caught up in the water on pellet which also included a fantastic 10lb ghostie.

Ian Lloyd, also of Ellesmere Port, was second with 36lb 12oz of carp, fishing meat in the margins.

Ellesmere Port’s Nick Roberts was second in the midweek evening open match at Chester Lakes, Dodleston with 13lb 12oz, while Eastham’s Barrie Carlson had to settle for third in Sunday’s Lobol AC match on the Priory Pool with a mixed bag of 13lb using caster and pinkies.

Geoff Selby, of Whitby, had finished third in the club’s Wednesday contest on the same pool with 8lb 8oz of crucians, roach and skimmer on a wide variety of baits.

Using floating bread and expander pellet, a lovely 18lb 8oz mirror carp fell to Ellesmere Port’s Martin Evans on his visit to Milton Green Fishery, also bagging further small carp.
