SID Robinson continued his impressive season so far by winning both Lobol AC club matches.
The club held their last Wednesday sweepstake match of the season on Priory Pool, Bromborough. Robinson took 8lbs 15oz of skimmers and small crucians to pellet for the win.
Whitby’s Geoff Selby weighed in second with crucians, roach and skimmers to 7lbs 1oz caught on pellet and worm. Third place was taken by Linda Cook, who used worm for her bag of skimmers and crucians weighing 6lbs 10oz.
Robinson put in another good performance to win Lobol’s match on snake pool, Milton Green, on Sunday. The weather conditions were very poor and the wind made things difficult for the anglers.
However, a mixed bag of mainly small carp weighing 31lbs 12oz was enough for Robinson to win. Gary Cross netted a similar bag of 25lbs 4oz for second place and Ianlee Palmer weighed in for third with 20lbs 4oz.
Ellesmere Port’s Mark Greasley put in a good performance. taking third place in the Cheshire Police AC club match at Hampton Springs on Thursday.
Mark, drawn on peg 40 of Long Island, fished meat on pole for a mixed bag of carp, crucians and barbel weighing 46lbs. Mike McLoughlin weighed in with a good 82lbs for the win.
He fished meat on the tip to the island from peg 18 for his catch that included a super 14lbs carp. Neil Jukes used meat on the pole from peg 14 to weigh in with carp, crucians and barbel at 52lbs for second place.
There were two open matches held at Lingmere Fishery, Moreton, last week. Once again it was owner Steve Openshaw who showed he knows his fishery well and how to fish it, by winning the Thursday open.
Steve weighed in with 57lbs 8oz of barbel, taken on meat fished on the pole in the margins of peg 18. Jamie Swain wasn’t too far behind in second taking 55lbs 2oz of carp and barbel and Bob Evans took third place with a mixed bag weighing 40lbs 4oz.
Ellesmere Port angler Nick Swanwick won the Saturday open match with a good bag of barbel weighing 62lbs using meat on peg 19.
Phil Roberts narrowly took second place with a mixed bag from peg 17 weighing 48lbs 13oz. He just edged it with Dave Woodworth only managing 46lbs 14oz in third.
