AN Ellesmere Port angler was on winning form when Cheshire Police AC held their club match on the canal at Heronbrook Fishery last Thursday.

Mark Greasley took top spot with 47lbs 12oz, a net made up of mostly barbel taken on meat and paste. Neil Jukes weighed in second with a mixed bag of 27lbs from peg 14.

Thursday’s open match at Lingmere Fishery, Moreton, was won by Alan Dewhurst.

Drawn on peg 32, he took carp on pellet giving him a final weight of 49lbs 8oz. Sid Robinson wasn’t far behind from peg 29. He bagged 46lbs 8oz of carp and barbel using pellet.

Owner Steve Openshaw won the Saturday open match at Lingmere. He weighed in with 43lbs 14oz of carp taken to pellet from peg 20. Alan Dewhurst was in among it again, netting a mixture of fish weighing 40lbs 14oz, caught on pellet and maggot from peg five.

Lobol AC travelled to Moreton for their club match at Lingmere Fishery last Sunday.

Once again it was Sid Robinson who was top rod on the day. Drawn on much-favoured peg 21, he used pellet for his winning weight of 34lbs 5oz of carp, barbel and skimmers.
