ADRIAN Stanton of Great Sutton struck lucky at Cheshire Fishery, Tattenhall. His catch included a huge 14-8-0 rainbow trout taken to an olive fritz lure.

Steve Openshaw was top rod in the Thursday match at Lingmere Fishery. Taking carp and chub weighing 25-6-0 gave him the edge over Geoff Barker with a mixed 12-4-0 and Dave Randles Snr with 11-15-0.

The Saturday match belonged to Alan Dewhurst as he took 37-9-0 of carp and pellets to beat Geoff Grantham’s 27-4-0 and Openshaw’s 24-0-0.

Ellesmere Port entrants swept the board in the Manley AC Sunday match on Mauldsworth Lake.

Bill Bristow won with roach and bream to weigh 14-8-0, while his brother John had 13-12-0 and Steve Roxburgh took 8-12-0 of roach and rudd.

Willaston’s Jamie Hughes landed fifth place in the Heronbrook Fishery Winter League, with carp weighing 42-6-0.
