ELLESMERE Port’s Jason Connor claimed top rod status after he netted a 45lb bag of carp and roach for Rivacre AC at Conwy Fishery on Sunday.
Fellow Portite Dave Grimes was also in fine form with maggot and caster on the pole at 8m for second netting a good bag of silvers weighing 29lb.
Fishing pellet at 14m, Eastham angler Billy Gore weighed in third with 25lb of carp and silvers.
Partridge Lakes near Warrington was the venue for Wirral Borough AC this Saturday.
Ian Lloyd from Ellesmere Port caught F1s weighing up to 12oz to finish in third. Ian made good use of pellet on the pole at 12m to bag 38lb.
The only other two anglers to better Ian were winner Andy Thompson from Anglesey and Bebington’s Ian Hughes.
Andy netted 48lb of carp with corn and pellet in the margins of his peg to beat Hughes’ 42lb of carp.
Mark Greasley was in the driving seat in Tuesday’s Open match at Yew Tree Fishery, Thornton Hough.
Greasley from the Port caught a good mixture of fish which included 32lb of skimmers and aide, sturgeon and a couple of tench weighing 12lb.
Using a mixture of pellet and maggot on the pole, he weighed in with a winning 43lb 14oz.
Next best was Blacon’s John Woodrow with 38lb of skimmers, aide and tench caught up in the water with maggot.
Ellesmere Port AC member Steve Andrews was in good form in Tuesday’s Open match at Tarvin Sands.
Competing on the new pool, Andrews bagged 30lb of bream and roach along with 8lb of carp with pellet at 11m to achieve second place.
The only angler to better Andrews was Vinnie Smith. Smith took a mixed bag of roach, bream and carp weighing 47lb 2oz for victory. Local angler Richie Burkett ran in third with 31lb 10oz.
