NEIL Paterson weighed in as top rod in Saturday’s open match on Todds Pool at Tarvin Sands.

His 42lb 12oz of carp was taken on feeder and meat. In second place was Stuart Davies with 38lb. Chester’s Rob Dickenson took 18lb 10oz for third.

Lavister AC held their club match on Pool two at Cheshire Fishing, Tattenhall, last Sunday.

Steve Barwise ran out the eventual winner by a good margin. The Llay angler netted 71lb 4oz of carp and large skimmers using paste. Martin Wedley took a similar mixture of fish for second spot weighing in with 51lb 4oz. Not far behind in third was Barry Gabriel with final weight of 50lb 2oz.

Llandulas AC also made use of the facilities at Cheshire Fishing recently, again on Pool two.

The club match was won by Gary Chambers with 55lb 6oz of carp, skimmers and roach. Gary was drawn on peg eight, using paste and pellet for his winning catch.

Chester’s Richard Green recorded one of the best individual catches of the week at the Tattenhall fishery. He fused a method feeder and boilies in paste for a 100lb net. His haul included carp weighing up to 7lb, bream and skimmers.

Thursday’s open match at Leeswood saw Gwillen Lloyd produce the win. Lloyd used pellet and waggler at 18 inches on peg seven for a winning bag of carp weighing 44lb 6oz.

Using similar tactics, Andy Amos weighed in with 39lb 10oz from peg 35 for second place. Peg one provided Frank Doran from Chester with third spot. Frank used meat close in at the side for 33lb 6oz.

Fish ‘O’ Mania finalist Jamie Hughes, of Chester Tackle Locker, put in a good performance in the Thursday open at Hampton Springs Fishery.

Drawn on peg 23 of Rock Pool Hughes weighed in with a good 82lb 4oz mixed bag. However this was only enough for third place. Shaun Sandham took the honours with an excellent net of 116lb 4oz from peg 28. Chip Wilson just nudged Jamie out of second place with 87lb 8oz.

On Sunday at Lingmere Fishery in Moreton, Kevin Smallman took top spot with a final weight of 61lb.

The Chester angler caught barbel and carp with pole and worm. Second place was taken by Chester’s Phil Hardman with 48lb 10oz. Connah’s Quay’s Steve Bampton was once again in the top placings with 45lb 8oz for third.
