CHESHIRE Police Angling Club visited Lower Ridge Farm at Saughall for their club match last Thursday.
Windy conditions hampered competitors, but Ellesmere Port’s Mark Greasley continued his good recent form with second place.
Greasley used his knowledge of the fishery to take a number of silver fish with a final weight of 24lbs 12oz.
Whitby’s Geoff Selby was on good form in Lobol Angling Club’s match on the Priory Pool, Bromborough on Sunday.
Selby made good use of maggot on the pole, netting 13lbs 10oz of carp, skimmers, crucians, roach and perch. Lingmere Fishery, held two open matches this week.
Steve Openshaw blew the field away with a stunning 69lbs 6oz of carp in Thursday’s match. Steve’s next nearest rival was Dave Randles Snr who bagged carp weighing 28lb 14oz. Saturday’s match was much closer with Phil Ashdown eventually finishing top rod with 31lbs of carp and barbel taken on pellet on the tip was enough for the win.
Little Sutton’s Adam Cole enjoyed a good day’s angling at Tattenhall’s Cheshire Fishing. Among his catch was a 13lbs 11oz common carp and two other carp of 10lbs 8oz and 9lbs 6oz all taken on marine halibut pellet. A mixed bag of silvers completed a total weight of 50lbs.
