CHESTER’S England Ladies team member Wendy Locker was in action in the Thursday Rovers match on Alice Springs at Hampton Springs.

The Chester Tackle Locker member ran in a clear first with 30lbs of carp. Her next nearest rival was Les Pickin of Holywell, who also took three good carp along with skimmers weighing in at 20lbs.

Locker put in another good performance in the Saturday Silvers match, weighing in with 12lbs 8oz for fourth. Steve Clegg was top rod on the day with 20lbs of roach on caster from the poplars lake.

Andy Spencer, of Chester Tackle Locker, took 18lbs 2oz of roach with similar tactics for third followed by Airbus team member Bob Asher with 15lbs 12oz.

Spencer returned on Sunday to blow the field away in the open match, tipping the scales with an excellent 67lbs 14oz. Drawn on peg 11 of Poplars, he caught a number of carp weighing up to 8lbs for his superb win.

Hampton’s Saturday Open was won by Gary Bough. He banged in 62lbs 12oz from peg 23 of Rock Pool on the pole with pellet to win by some margin.

Second place on the day was won by Barry Bush with 35lbs from peg 10 of the same pool. Drawn on Meadow peg 15, Chester’s Keith Bean took third with 19lbs 10oz.

Kevin Ward from Ellesmere Port enjoyed a good day of pleasure fishing at Cheshire Fishing, Tattenhall, netting an impressive bag weighing in excess of 35lbs.

Ward fished pellet over pellet up in the water on the pole, taking a lovely mirror carp of 10lbs, a carp of 8lbs, roach weighing up to 1lb 8oz and a number of skimmers.

Another good catch was recorded by Brian Ward, of Hoole. He netted mostly silver fish including roach weighing up to 1lb along with carp of up to 8lbs. His total weight was 30lbs, taken using a mixture of meat and corn feeding pellet.

Using punch bread, Tony Crank bagged a large amount of silver fish, along with four carp weighing up to 5lbs on the pole with corn. Crank, from Tattenhall, was delighted with his 25lbs bag and obviously had the right bait in his box.

It was not so for Neston’s John Houghton, who struggled at the Tattenhall fishery. That was until in despair he decided to use the ham from his sandwiches! This proved successful for Houghton, who fished the margins taking a mixture of carp weighing up to 3lbs with a combined weight of 20lbs.
