JAMIE Edwork pulled out a 27-6-0 mirror carp when he visited the Grove Fishery at Backford.

The Ellesmere Port angler lured the impressive catch with a Pepperami bait.

Mark Greasley continued his recent good form as he notched up a win in Sunday’s open match at Leeswood Fishery, near Mold. On their newly-opened horseshoe pool, he claimed carp and chub for 31-0-0.

Craig Swain carried off first prize in the Thursday match at Lingmere Fishery. His mixed bag weighed 32-1-0, more than Steve Openshaw’s (28-6-0) and James DeClouet with 17-6-0.

Lingmere’s Saturday match belonged to Dave Woodworth with carp weighing 22-4-0. He defeated Joe Alton with a mixed 18-8-0 and Geoff Barker with 18-4-0.

Ellesmere Port British Legion AC’s match on the Pretty Bridge length of the Shropshire Union Canal proved hard-going due to the weather. A catch of 2-0-0 by Andy Fletcher was enough to win it. Steve Andrews took 0-8-10 and Steve Bithell managed third with just 0-2-0.

Simon Powell was the victor in Manley AC’s match at Manley Springs Fishery. Portite Powell brought in 19-4-0 of carp to win.

Willaston’s Jamie Hughes tipped the scales with 76-7-0 of carp but still only came second in the Hampton Springs Fishery Bank Holiday Monday match. Geoff Grantham of Ellesmere Port won his section with a carp-based 35-0-0.

Hughes claimed a win in the Good Friday match on the Weston Pools Fishery at Oswestry.

With a mixed 71-13-0 and in the Sunday match at the same venue, he finished third with 32-8-0 of carp.
