WENDY Locker continued her good form in Saturday’s open match at Hampton Springs Fishery.
The Chester Tackle Locker member, from Hoole, drew peg 14 of Long Island and bagged 38lb of carp on the pole with pellet to finish second. The only angler to better her was Kevin Williams from Wrexham with a 45lb haul.
Further success at Hampton for Chester Tackle Locker came in the form of Simon Loyley’s second place in Sunday’s open match. Drawn on Meadow Pool’s peg 3, Loyley, from Hoole, netted 42lb 14oz of carp weighing up to 4lb, fishing the margins with pellet.
Boughton angler John Tyreman took a great bag of carp to seal first place in the Oaklands AC match on Saturday. Competing on the Badger Pool at Lloyd’s Meadow Fishery, he netted 48lb to see off the challenge of Hoole’s Geoff Dentith (34lb).
Blacon’s Lewis McCluskey had success at Cheshire Fishing, bagging a number of great double-figure carp. Using a mixture of meat and corn, Lewis landed a trio of mirrors of 13lb 6oz, 12lb and 10lb 8oz along with further carp up to 6lb.
John Griffiths also enjoyed a good day’s pleasure fishing at the Tattenhall fishery. The Elton angler bagged mirror carp weighing up to 9lb and silvers of up to 2lb on meat, maggot and corn to finish with a good 55lb bag.
