RISING flood waters forced Grosvenor Estate AC members to cut short their pike match on Eaton Hall’s Serpentine.
There was only one weigher, Ron Evans, and he caught a brace of pike to finish with 10-3-0, his best being a 5-14-0 fish. Both were taken to dead bait.
Lobol AC’s match on their priory pool saw Sid Robinson win with 28-4-0 of carp. Danny Boothroyd followed in joint second place with Dave Wilcox as both reeled in 6-8-0.
Steve Clegg won Chester Tackle Locker’s silver fish only match at Hampton Springs Fishery.
Taking roach weighing 23-4-0 to caster enabled him to see off Phil Weaver, who bagged a roach and perch mix for 22-12-0, and Craig Herring with 21-8-0 of roach.
Rod n’ Reel’s Northwich Winter League team struggled on the River Weaver at Hartford in the latest round. Their only weigher was Wayne Percival with a 1-0-0 skimmer, leaving the team floundering.
Chester’s Geoff Dentith was the winner in the Flint AA match on the paper mill pool. He took roach to weigh 7-15-0.
Graham Lewis of Rod n’ Reel put in a decent performance in Sunday’s Heronbrook Fishery Individual Winter League match.
He won his section and came fifth overall with carp weighing 52-10-0. Jamie Hughes was runner-up in his section with likewise to weigh 49-6-0.
Dave Woodworth reeled in first place the Thursday match at Lingmere Fishery.
Putting carp on the scales weighing 34-4-0 handed him victory over Gary Bough with 30-0-0 and Geoff Barker with 21-8-0.
Chris Smith won Lingmere’s Saturday match with more carp, this time weighing 35-10-0, to beat Alan Dewhurst (34-0-0) and Steve Balson (27-0-0).
Chester entrants dominated the open matches at Hampton Springs Fishery. Top rod in the Saturday match was Phil Hardman.
Drawn on the long island pool, he netted carp and chub weighing 62-5-0 to beat Mark Pleavin’s 42-10-0 and Gary Vincent’s 39-2-0.
The Sunday match went to Keith Bean, courtesy of his carp haul of 42-8-0 on the rock pool.
Gary Vincent (34-4-0) and Eddy Simpson (30-12-0) were unable to overhaul him.
