MARK Greasley of Ellesmere Port was top rod in the Thursday open match fished on Leeswood Fishery’s Lake of Tranquility.

He won with carp and skimmers weighing 14-6-0.

Graham Lewis of Rod n’ Reel put in a decent performance in Sunday’s Heronbrook Fishery Individual Winter League match. He won his section and came fifth overall with carp weighing 52-10-0. Willaston’s Jamie Hughes was runner-up in his section with likewise to weigh 49-6-0.

Dave Woodworth topped the Thursday match at Lingmere Fishery. Putting carp on the scales weighing 34-4-0 handed him victory over Gary Bough with 30-0-0 and Geoff Barker with 21-8-0.

Chris Smith won Lingmere’s Saturday match with more carp, this time weighing 35-10-0, to beat Alan Dewhurst with 34-0-0 and Steve Balson with 27-0-0.

Lobol AC’s match on their Priory Pool saw Sid Robinson win with 28-4-0 of carp. Danny Boothroyd followed jointly with Dave Wilcox, as both reeled in 6-8-0.

Saturday was a dour day for Rod n’ Reel as they finished in the lower half on the day in the Northwich Winter League’s match on the River Weaver at Hartford. The three-man team came back with two empty keepnets, the only weigher being Wayne Percival with a 1-0-0 skimmer.

Willaston anglers, meanwhile, made their mark in the Stapeley, Crewe and District Winter League match fished on the Shropshire Union Canal between Barbridge and Calveley.

Phil Cross fishing for the Cheshire Match Group took 1-12-6 of roach while Tony Churchill, fishing on behalf of Wyche Black Team, took 1-14-3 of bits.
