KEV Irlam, from Ellesmere Port, was in great form in Sunday’s open match at Hampton Springs Fishery.
He bagged carp and barbel weighing a total of 62lbs 14oz to take third place overall against stiff opposition.
Drawn on peg 17 on Rock Pool, the Rod ‘n’ Reel team member used meat and pellet in the margins of his peg as well as pellet and corn at 8m.
Top rod on the day was Martin Wedley with a net-breaking 111lbs 3oz of similar fish.
Partridge Lakes Fishery, near Warrington, hosted Wirral Borough AC on Saturday. The match was staged on both the Spey and Match Canals with Port anglers Jeff Grantham and Mike Flanagan performing well. Grantham set out his stall at 11m with pellet feeding 4mm pellet to take F1s, tench and orfe. Latterly he swapped to 2m and 9m for further fish to weigh in with a total of 31lbs 12oz and third place. Despite finishing fourth, Flanagan (31lbs) enjoyed his day.
John Ward had a great day’s pleasure angling at Cheshire Fishing, Tattenhall. The Little Sutton man caught steadily all day to finish with a bag of over 80lbs. This included a super 12lbs 6oz mirror carp along with roach to 1lb and skimmers to 4lb.
There was also success for Martin Evans, of Ellesmere Port, during his visit to Milton Green Fishery. He bagged an immense 18lbs 8oz mirror carp along with other fish weighing up to 12lb.
