CHESTER Tackle Locker missed the cut in the final North Wales Winter League match at Hampton Springs fishery.

There was an excellent individual performance from Locker’s Neil Faulkner, who provided the best individual weight of the day, an impressive 46lb 13oz of carp and skimmers from peg 28 of Rock Pool.

This was enough to prevent Drennan’s Ian Hughes from taking victory. Other notable performances for Tackle Locker came in the form of Mike Flanagan and Andy Spencer.

Flanagan took second in his section on Willow Pool with a bag of carp weighing 29lb 12oz and team-mate Spencer also took second in his section on Meadow Pool with 22lb 5oz.

On the day, Tackle Locker finished in third place. behind Drennan in second and Saints in the driving position, leaving Locker to settle for third spot overall.

Two of Chester’s top anglers battled it out in a very close Thursday Rovers match at Hampton Springs.

Hoole’s Rory Blease drew peg 28 of Rock Pool and bagged 36lb 8oz of fish with meat on the tip, but he had to settle for second place by 1lb as Kinnerton’s Keith Bean finished in top spot with 37lb 8oz.

Chester’s Rake and Pikel AC were at the Meadow Island stretch of the River Weaver.
John William won with a 5lb over John Page (3lb 4oz) and Bob Crawford (3lb).

Chester’s Brian Fook Snr continued his good form in Sunday’s Open match at Glasdir Fishery.

Making good use of corn, Fook netted 4lb 11oz of carp and silvers to finish in third spot.
