LINGMERE Fishery in Moreton was the venue for Chester Royal Mail AC’s first match of the season on Sunday.
Victory went to Chester’s Charlie Cooke, drawn on peg five on the Match Lake.
Cooke brought F1s and carp of up to 3lb to the net totalling 43lb 4oz, taken on both pellet and maggot on 13m pole.
A 29lb 8oz mixed bag of predominantly bream provided Blacon’s Keith Davies with second place. From peg 19, Bean made use of maggot presented on the pole at 6m throughout the match.
Fellow Blacon angler Pete Hodge weighed in third from peg 11. He bagged 27lb 4oz of F1s, common carp and barbel fishing at 8m on the pole with 6mm pellet on the hook.
Members of Chester’s St Theresa’s AC were in action at Weston Pools, Oswestry, on Sunday.
Competing on Stretton Lake, Andy Griffiths led the way with a 32lb 6oz bag. From peg 16, he made use of the straight lead with meat for a mixture of carp of up to 4lb and ide for the win. Luke Palumbo was a close second with 31lb 8oz from peg two. Third place was John Rowlands with 24lb 7oz.
Alvanley match angler Chris Hardigan took a good 53lb 8oz at Tarvin Sands Fishery to win this Tuesday’s open match. He brought 15 mixed carp to the net with 8mm banded pellet fished on the tip from peg eight for victory on the Match Lake. Second place went to John Thomson with 29lb 2oz. Kelsall’s Richie Birkett weighed in with 17lb 4oz mixed bag for third place.
Local pleasure angler Pete Hodge took one of the best weights of the week at Cheshire Fishing, Tattenhall.
Hodge, from Blacon, bagged a superb 93lb during his session.
Tom Higham bagged seven carp of up to 12lb, six bream to 5lb along with a good number of silvers. There was also a good 40lb bag taken by David Tomlinson from Helsby during his visit.
The Airflo World Bank Masters heat was held at Treetops Fishery, Llanfynnydd, on Sunday. The top two anglers were Newton’s Richard Roberts and David Chamberlain of Trelogan. Both qualified for the national final at Elinor Lakes later in the month.
