SAILORS from the Chester Sailing and Canoeing Club were faced with a strong current and a light wind on Sunday morning.

The hardy few still took to the water and 10 boats lined up to race.

Andy Todd, an acrobatic sailor, took control of the race in his Laser and pulled ahead of the chasing Enterprises.

One Enterprise, sailed by Wally Riley and crew Leslie Riley, was over-enthusiastic in the chase.

A turn on the tack was misjudged and Wally fell out of the boat, which then fell onto the unfortunate crew.

Luckily no one was hurt, the boat was righted, bailed out and they continued racing.

The Rileys were able to overtake Amy Spreyer and crew Chris Spreyer whose Enterprise was caught up in one of the buoys but were unable to catch Steve Spreyer and crew John Spreyer, also in an Enterprise.

The eventual winner was Andy Todd with Bill Broughall and crew in an Enterprise claiming second.
