WEST CHESHIRE AC's Andrew Whitton claimed bronze at the AAA U15s Track and Field Championships.

The 14-year-old clinched third place in the triple jump at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium with a distance of 12.11m.

Andrew is now preparing to compete alongside several other West Cheshire AC members who will represent Cheshire at this weekend's North of England Inter-Counties Track and Field Championships at Cudworth.

He was joined at Alexander Stadium by four other West Cheshire AC members.

Gareth Preston finished fifth in the U15 boys' long jump with a leap of 6.11m, Sian Kelman claimed a semi-final time of 13.05 in the U15 girls' 100m, Daisy Flynn-Piercy finished fifth in her heat and Lauren Hunt spun the U17 ladies' discus to a best 32.12m for eighth spot.

In the third round of the Cheshire Track and Field League match held at Bebington Oval, the club's U11s squad secured pole position.

Both boys' and girls' squads competed in the 75m sprint, 600m race, long jump, javelin and sprint relay events to earn top spot.

Danielle Bentley celebrated success in the U13 girls' javelin competition after clocking 2.56.7 for third place in her 800m. Kerry Riley cleared 1.33m in the U15 girls' high jump and won the B 1,500m after posting 5.23.4.

Rebecca Grimes (5.47m) and Georgina Wright (5.40m) won A and B events in the U15 girls' shot while Georgina won her 100m (14.4). Bryony Potter completed the girls' success, posting 13.7 for third spot in her 100m.

Michael Lyness won the U15 boys' javelin with a throw of 27.74m, while Tom Booth (32.1), Sam Burgess (34.4) and Luke Harrison (30.3) all won their respective U13 boys' 100m races. nFixtures this weekend include the AAA Combined Events Championships at Birmingham and the North of England Inter-Counties Track and Field Championships at Cudworth, Yorkshire.

West Cheshire AC will hold their monthly committee meeting at Stanney Track on Tuesday, August 23, at 8pm.
