RACHEL Stoakley has sprinted her way to a silver medal.

The West Cheshire AC member grabbed second place in the senior women’s 200m final at the North of England Indoor Championships, held in Sheffield.

Rachel, who is now nursing a hamstring injury, aims to be part of her club’s Northern Track and Field League squad who compete in Division Two West.

West Cheshire AC colleagues Sian Kelman and Bryony Potter also made the trip to Yorkshire and both qualified for their 60m final.

Sian, who finished third in her heat by equalling her personal best of 7.97 seconds, finished seventh in the final with 8.01 seconds. And Bryony, who posted fourth spot in a new best of 8.06 seconds in her heat, clocked 8.09 seconds for eighth position in the final.

Laura Bestow, of West Cheshire AC, finished eighth lady and 11th overall in the combined under 17 men, over 70 men, and women’s race at Wrexham in the North Wales Cross Country League. In the over-17 men’s race, Dave Alexander claimed ninth position.

West Cheshire youngsters won the under 11 boys and U15 boys competitions at the final round of the North West Sportshall League, staged at Deeside.

David Donkin, Richard Farley, Stephen Jones, Joseph O'Riordan, Ryan Jones and Michael Bailiff combined for success in the U15 age group.

James McMahon, Jack Johnson, Matthew Pagan, Conor Rowbottom, Jack Pickering, Jamie Pearson and Daniel Vickers claimed victory for the U11 boys.
