DAVE Alexander steered West Cheshire AC's men's team to second spot at the fifth round of the Borders Road Running League at Mold.

He finished fourth in a time of 27 minutes 33 seconds after completing the five-mile course behind eventual winner Steve Crowe (Ellesmere Port Running Club), who posted 26:43.

West Cheshire's Under 20 junior Alec Beaney finished 16th in 29:07, ahead of clubmates Graham Jenkins (19th in 29:16) and U20 junior Louis Humphreys (22nd in 29:25).

Andrew Clague (35th in 29:57), Graham Earlam (36th in 29:59) and Dave Tiernan (37th in 30:02) packed the places, ahead of Gary Withers (41st in 30:23), Paul Price (78th in 32:10) and Stephen Williams (99th in 32:56).

West Cheshire's Alan Littler (100th in 33:00) was followed by Chris Rhodes (108th in 33:21), Bob Benson (109th in 33:26), Matthew Gibbs (110th in 33:28), Dave Hough (158th in 37:24), and Alan Cooper (171st in 40:06).

Jules Bancroft was West Cheshire's first lady, finishing 10th in 35:06, one place ahead of Mieke Vanesste, who posted 35:21.

Lisa Davies finished 27th in 37:50 and Liz Stott claimed 40th place in 40:12.
