FISHING: NO-ONE could match Brian Woodcock in Saturday's match on the Meadow pool at the Hampton Springs Fishery as he ended with all carp up to the 4-0-0 mark for an impressive 41-7-0 total, ahead of Dave Grimes on 28-3-0 and Steve Boyle with 21-7-0.

Castrol SAS went seeking the bass on Saturday from the boat Morgan James out of Port Dinorwic, dropping anchor off Bardsey Island.

Mark Wilkinson took a match-winning 5-0-0 turbet, which was worth more than Norton Cooper's 5-8-0 bass and Colin Bowyer's 5-0-0 bass.

Andy Fletcher led the way in the Ellesmere Port British Legion AS match on Baden Hall Fishery at Eccleshall with a 24-12-0 carp catch, while Mike Pearson had 21-1-0 and Ray Rickley 14-15-0, both of the same.

Shaun Price of Ellesmere Port had a hectic session on the Milton Green Fishery last week as he coaxed 10 carp between 5-0-0 and 10-0-0, all taken to either pellet, luncheon meat or bread.

Maurice Malloy was out in front in Saturday's Lobol AS match on Meadow View Fishery's Thrush pool, taking a mix of carp, skimmers and roach for 25-0-0, while Dave Wilcocks had 15-4-0 of carp and roach and Sid Robinson with 15-0-0 of the same.

Caldy AS found the going hard on Sunday on the Gooseberry Hollows length of the Bridgewater canal at Runcorn.

Guy Silvester was first with small roach for 2-8-0, ahead of Paul Robinson with all bits for 1-11-0 and Rob Winstanley on 1-10-0.

Bill Farnell of Ellesmere Port enjoyed his trip to the Deanford Hall Trout Fishery at Whitchurch last week as he netted 19 fish, including a 4-10-0 rainbow all taken to buzzers.
