TENNIS: A LITTLE Sutton woman has won a new car after winning a doubles tournament in Essex at the weekend.

Sally Hughes, 26, was partnered by Iain Thomas, from Bidston, in the Audi A3 Challenge Cup at the David Lloyd Leisure Club in Chigwell.

And the duo were one of 16 doubles pairs bidding to drive off in a pair of new Audi A3 2.0L FSI cars worth a combined value of £30,000.

It didn't take them long to demolish the opposition, and Sally and Iain, who are both members of David Lloyd Leisure in Cheshire Oaks, took just 52 minutes to comprehensively beat Hertfordshire's Linda Nardelli and Joe Johnson 6-2 6-2.

Big-hitting Iain, a trainee barrister, served up eight aces and dropped no points on his service games while Sally played a solid final cheered on by family and friends.

The pair reached the final after enjoying success in the qualifying tournament at Cheshire Oaks, and then by finishing first in one of five regional finals in Manchester.
