ANGLING: WINSTON Duckers was on top form to win the Chester Telecoms AC match at Burton Mere Fishery's beech pool last weekend.

He finished the match with 65lbs 7oz of carp, skimmers and barbel to finish well ahead of Bill Ward, who had a 28-5-0 mixture, and Chris Dobson with 26lbs of carp.

Mike Pearson won the Ellesmere Port British Legion AC match at Woodlands lake, Thirsk with 28-15-0 of carp and tench. Andy Fletcher was runner-up with 26-6-0 of carp with John Woolley third with 25-15-0 of carp.

Willaston AC's open match on the Golden Nook length of the SU Canal at Waverton went to Kevin O'Hanlon with 3-12-0, including a 1lb perch, from Paul Roses's 3-3-0 of small fish and Phil Weaver's 3-0-8.

Mark Ashton led the field in the Rake & Pikel AC match on the National length of the Weaver with 6-13-0 of roach. Jeff Williams had 5-13-0 of roach and Dave Spencer took 4lbs of roach.

Dave Randles junior was top in the Lingmere Fishery Thursday open match with a 50-8-0 mixture ahead of Paul Jones's 38-10-0 and Mark Almond's 32-8-0. In the Saturday match Paul Fletcher had a carp-based 39-2-0 from Almond's 25lbs and Dave Lawrence's 21-12-0.

It was George Snell's day in the Blacon Social Club AC match at Milton Green Fishery. His 7-6-0 mixed bag earned him victory over Michael Coleclough's carp-based 6-7-0 and Fred Woods' 6-4-0 of crucians.

Pike and barbel weighing 12-8-0 gave Alan Dodd top spot in the Railway, Barrow AC match on the Sabrina length of the Severn. Frank Green had 3-12-0, including a 2lbs chub and Colin Owen took 3-7-0 of chub.

Phil Dawson led at the close of the Egerton Arms AC match on the Severn at Monkmoor with 3-13-0 of small fish. Paul Morrelle was second with a similar bag weighing 3-3-0 with Bernard Green third with a 1-7-0 perch in his 1-13-0 net.

Tom Hardy was an easy winner of the Neston Match Anglers' contest at Brookside Fishery with 18-6-0 of carp. Ian Evanson was second with 6lbs of carp and Billy Mason third with 3-8-0.

Caldy AS went to Border Fishery where Rob Winstanley landed 15lbs of carp and barbel to beat Neil Bristow's 13-8-0 and Kevin Fish-wick's 11-8-0.

The honours in the Lobol AC match at Meadow View Fishery went to Geoff Selby with 23-4-0 of carp. Barry Carlson was runner-up with 21-6-0 with Linda Cooke third with 14-14-0.

Harry Gittins was a comfortable winner of the Rivacre AC match on the National length of the Weaver with 10-2-0, including a 4lbs tench, beating Peter Canavan's 6-12-0 of roach and skimmers and Wayne Moore's 1-10-0.

Malpas AC went to Dimelow's pool where Ken Childs took top spot with 8-12-0 of small carp and roach. Alan Roberts included a 3-11-0 carp in his 8-3-0, while Simon Coomber finished third with a 4-10-0 mixture.

Andy Smith was top rod in the Chester Police AC match at Hampton Springs with 18-8-0 of carp and barbel ahead of Ian McLoughlan's 17-8-0 and Mark Greasley's 14-9-0.

Shaun Sandham was up front in the Tarvin Sands AC Tuesday match at Cheshire Fishery with 65-4-0 of carp, edging Martin Holding into second spot with 64-14-0 with Brian Trow third with 20lbs.

Victory in the Thursday match at their own fishery went to Les Picken with 55-12-0 from Holding's 50lbs and Ray Iball's 24-4-0.

Andy Spencer was the winner of the Upton AC match at Hampton Springs with 43-7-0 of carp from Martin Holding's 37-4-0 and Kevin Valentine's 25-8-0. Top junior with 11lbs of carp was John Lythe. The next match is on September 26 on the meadow bank length of the Weaver.

A 4-6-0 mixture of bream, chub and roach gave Malcolm Lightfoot victory in the Helsby Sports and Social Club AC match on the BICC factory pools. Terry Archer had a bream-based 3-14-0 and Jack Millington 2-14-0.

Danny Stoneley was up front in the Manley AS match at Old Hall Farm with 13-12-0 of small carp from Bill Bristow's 11-2-0 of carp and tench and Brian Saunders' 6-12-0.

Dave Bachelor was top of only two weighers in the Capenhurst Flyfishers' match at Llyn Brenig with a 2-14-0 brace of rainbows from Dennis Need's 1-14-0 rainbow.

North West Flyfishers went to the Foremark reservoir at Burton-on-Trent where Charlie Mitchell landed eight rainbows for 16-1-0. Phil Burgess had eight fish for 14-7-0 with Brian Harvey third with 11-6-0.

Local members of Wirral Game Fishers recorded good salmon catches last week. David Cragg, of Tarporley, fished the Dee at Chirk to take an 8lbs salmon using a spin-ner; Derek Jones, of Upton, Wirral, fished worm to take an 11lbs fish from the Lledr and Cliff White, of Guilden Sutton, coaxed salmon of 10lbs and 8lbs from the same venue using an ancient quill minnow. Graham Fergus, of Blacon, tempted salmon of 8lbs and 5-4-0 from club waters at Shocklach on the Dee using a spinner.
