TENNIS: ALMOST 100 youngsters from across the borough have taken part in the Mini Tennis Championships at Neston Recreation Centre, competing in 730 matches.
The annual event is the biggest single-venue tournament of its kind in the north of England and ran over a six-week period.
A total of 13 schools played 84 matches each in a round-robin league format before progressing into play-off competitions of two divisions.
League placings were - 1st St Winefride's; 2nd Parkgate; 3rd Heswall; 4th Whitby Heath; 5th Woodfall; 6th Dawpool; 7th Bishop Wilson; 8th William Stockton; 9th Childer Thornton; 10th Wolverham; 11th Gorsthills; 12th Neston; 13th Rossmore.
Parkgate won the Division One playoffs with Woodfall runners-up, while William Stockton were Division Two play-off winners, beating Wolverham.
Misha Preston of Neston and Wolverham's Stephen Duncan won the girls' and boys' Most Improved Player awards respectively while Rossmore took the Sportsmanship prize.
