Chester FC's long run without conceding a goal may have been ended by Southport, but the Blues' clean sheet record this season is still highly impressive.

In fact, statistics show that no club in the top five divisions in the country has achieved more shutouts than Chester this season.

Jon McCarthy's rock-solid side have kept nine clean sheets from 15 National League games.

That is one more shutout than the best in the Championship (Brighton & Hove Albion - 8); three more than the best in League One (Oldham Athletic - 6); four more than the best in League Two (Plymouth Argyle - 5), and five more than the best in the Premier League (Tottenham Hotspur - 4).

Not bad, hey?

But if that's not enough, Chester now stand on the cusp of breaking a club record.

The Blues head to York City on Saturday on the back of seven successive league clean sheets and having gone 668 minutes with conceding a league goal.

That means they are within touching distance of breaking the club record set four years ago.

Back then Chester enjoyed seven straight league clean sheets and went 691 minutes without conceding a league goal.
