THE Duke of Westminster has rekindled his association with the Chester Schools FA.

The association has been running inter-school competitions for more than 100 years but it was not until this season that it returned to running representative sides at primary, under 14s and U15s level.

Chester Schools bosses needed extra funds in order to do this, and thanks to the players’ parents, they managed to achieve their total.

Bag packs and raffles were organised while one parent, Terry Herron, contacted his employer – the Duke.

Unknown to the present committee, His Grace had been the president of the association since the 1970s.

Without hesitation, he donated money and rekindled his presidency by attending the association’s presentation evening at Abbey Gate College, where he talked about his own footballing career and presented each of the players with a Chester Schools FA tie as recognition at being the ‘best of the best’ from the 10 secondary schools in Chester and its surrounding district.
