CHESTER Schoolboys Under 15s exited the English Schools Cup after losing an entertaining and hard-fought match at Macclesfield Schoolboys U15s 2-1.

The effort the city’s finest put into the clash did not get the result they deserved against a strong and able Macclesfield side.

Chester had their chances in a well-contested opening period. The excellent Aaron Hassall sent over a number of dangerous corners while Cameron Black, Daniel Reynolds and Sam Jones made the home goalkeeper work.

At the other end Jake Minshull produced three outstanding saves before he was eventually beaten by a headed effort.

The visitors started the second half strongly, with Black and Matthew Sheen going close, but it was the hosts who scored next with a scrappy goal.

Back came Chester and the hardworking Sheen headed a Black cross into the net to reduce the deficit, but they were unable to snatch an equaliser.

Chester’s squad was: Jack Minshull, Eddie Speed, Brandon Garland, Olly Knight, Billy Reeves, Aaron Hassall, Sam Jones, Alex Wilkinson, Matthew Sheen, Daniel Reynolds, Cameron Black, Leon Langmead, Jordan Coxall, Robbie Foster, Mark Heard.

Chester Nomads remain hot on the heels of the Chester & District Junior League Under 11s Division B pacesetters after they won 2-1 at title rivals Blacon Youth on Sunday with goals from Will Blance and Tyler Woods.

In Division A Hawker Jets were grounded by a fine display of finishing by Newton Athletic, the more clinical hosts winning an evenly-contested match 7-0.

Chester Nomads cemented second spot in the U13s Division with a 5-2 victory at Malpas & District given to them by man-of-the-match Jack Pickering (3), Aidan Roxburgh and George Hassall.

Curtis Thorpe was the MoM and Cam Tye, George Back (2), Luke Chard (2) and Marco Apollonio did the damage as second-placed Chester Nomads won 6-0 at home to Princes Villa in U14s Division One.
