Chester Schools FA defied the ravages of the winter weather to stage the annual finals day on time.

The competition has been running for more than 100 years but waterlogged pitches and a fixture pile-up threatened the completion of this season’s knockout games.

But since September the 11 senior schools managed to play nearly 60 cup games involving about 1,000 pupils aged from 11 to 18.

Last week the success story was completed with two days of finals at The King’s School.

The games were fiercely competitive but played in a good spirit.

All finalists received medals presented by sponsors Complete Sports Solutions.
