BLACON YC edged in to the semi-finals of the Chester Junior League’s Under 9s Cup to end JFC Boughton’s dreams of glory.

Talented Blacon marched on thanks to a second-half Kenny Brown brace and a strike from man-of-the-match Kieron Ball in a 3-0 success.

Vicars Cross Dynamos had Sam Ward and Lewis Roberts on target as they went through 2-1 against Saughall Colts. Vicars MoM was Alexander Haggart.

Saughall had no answer to Christle- ton Newscene as the visitors enjoyed a magnificent 7-0 victory, while Blacon Youth (Whites) edged past Malpas 2-1.

In an end-to-end encounter, plenty of chances were created in the first half and Blacon found themselves trailing at the interval.

But second-half goals from Calyn Barlow and MoM Harley Bennion proved enough to send Blacon through.

In the U9s Shield, Westminster Park Lions were 1-0 winners at home to Waverton Rockets.

The U10s Cup action saw Blacon YC travel to Vauxhall Astra and return with a 1-1 draw.

Vauxhall took the lead in a competitive first half but Blacon hit back through Jack Davies after the break. Warren Millington was named MoM.

Newton Athletic were comfortable 4-0 winners at home to Blacon Youth.

A Will Hannigan brace and singles from Marc Hardman and Joe Johnson in the first half proved enough. MoM was Joe Johnson and Zach Holmes.
