CHESTER Schoolboys’ under 14s team has experienced mixed results in the Merseyside League.

An excellent 2-1 win over Knowsley Schoolboys was followed by a 4-2 home loss to Sefton on Saturday.

Chester took to the field against Knowsley in their new kit, sponsored by investment company TPG.

The match took place at the Cheshire County Sports Club in Upton and Chester were quickly into their stride, going 1-0 up early on through Richard Tomassen.

The hosts were rocked five minutes later when Joe Williams was red carded for handling the ball on the goal-line – although Chester breathed a sigh of relief when the penalty was blazed wide.

The visitors finally drew level just before half time, but Chester hit what turned out to be the winner 10 minutes from time through debutant Cameron Clark. Man of the match was Sam Parsons.

The County Sports Club was also the venue for Saturday morning’s clash with a strong Sefton side, who led 3-0 at half time.

Tom Batten pulled one back with a goal direct from an inswinging corner, but Sefton netted a fourth to seal the game before star man Batten slotted home his second of the game.

Chester’s next match is their Alcock Cup semi-final against Stockport at the Cheshire County Sports Club on Saturday, March 27 (10.30am).
