Pupils at The Firs School in Chester were runners up in a northern schools basketball tournament.

The event took place in Rochdale and the team at the Firs played four matches and won all of them against Queen Ethelberga School, York 4-0; Beech House School, Rochdale 6-0; Bridgewater, Manchester 4-0; and Clarendon Cottage, Manchester 8-0.

In the final The Firs team fought Bridgewater’s A team with the same number of points as Firs from previous matches. It was a very close game and Bridgewater won with a final score of 2-0.

Headteacher Lucy Davies said: “The tournament and the final were really exciting, with a nail biting finish. Our team played exceptionally well throughout the tournament and well done to everyone involved for a great runner up result.”
