Thrilling fightback

CHESTER Nomads overcame the odds to beat previously unbeaten Chester & District Junior League Under 14s Division One leaders Waverton Wasps on Sunday.

After falling four goals down, the second-placed visitors showed incredible powers of recovery to fight back and claim a vital 5-4 victory thanks to a Sean Crawshaw treble, a Cameron Black single and an own goal – and a heroic goalkeeping display by man of the match Sean Bate.

Third-placed JFC Boughton (Dan Burgess, Ross Lavender; MoM Jack Davies) also came from behind to triumph 2-1 at Princes Villa.

Vicars Cross Dynamos (Joe Wainwright, Kieran Carney) drew 2-2 at home to Chester Nomads Colts (MoM Charlie Mann, Tom Rose).

Waverton Bees enjoyed an excellent 7-6 home success over previous pacesetters Newton Athletic Youth in the ultra-competitive Division Two.

That result meant Upton took over top spot with a 5-3 home win over Pulford.

Westminster Park Lions were denied their first victory of the season as they drew 4-4 at home to Princes Villa Colts. Driven on by MoM Johnny Olson, the Lions had led through Luke Walker, John Forth, Alex Halliwell Dykes and Joseph Speed.

Chester Nomads held on to pole position in Under 13s Division One with a 5-2 win at Upton on Sunday.

Luke Chard (2), man of the match Dominic Doherty (2) and George Black did the damage with Andy Bolt and Louis Clarke reducing the deficit.

Second-placed JFC Boughton (Cameron Gardner 2, Jack Rowland 2, Christoph Azimale 2, Kieran Trevor) made it five victories from as many games with a 7-1 success at battling Malpas & District.

Allessandro Malletta, Sam Wynn-Hughes, Sam Flynn, Owen Mackin, Josh Brown, Will Shannon, Robbie McNally, Alex Lee-Colding, Harry Sharp and Harrison Lawson shared the strikes and Mathew Pagan was the MoM in Hoole Hornets’ 9-0 home cruise over Vicars Cross Dynamos in Division Two.

Second-placed Waverton Hornets won 7-2 at Hope Farm Rangers, but Waverton Bees went down 7-0 at table-topping Princes Villa.

Leaders march on

BLACON Youth and Malpas & District continue to set the Under 12s Division ablaze.

Man of the match Keenan Beaumont (2), Trey Lattie, James Lloyd, Tom Rose and Will Hannigan got the goals as Blacon won 6-1 at home to Vicars Cross Dynamos on Sunday to maintain their 100% winning start to the campaign.

Malpas (Patrick Horrocks, Josh Charlton; MoM Matthew Morgan) have a identical record after they triumphed 2-1 at home to Princes Villa.

Chester Nomads Colts (Lee Bryce) drew 1-1 at home to Upton, while there was an equally hard-fought match between Westminster Park and Waverton, with the visitors fighting back to earn a 2-2 draw after Ben Russell and Liam Eldridge netted for Park, for whom Joseph Brackenbury was the MoM.

Under 11s Division champions-elect Blacon Youth made it 10 triumphs on the trot on Sunday.

Jake Tonge (3), Harley Bennion, Sam Carrol and man of the match Calam Barlow were on target as the runaway leaders won 6-0 at Waverton Jets.

A James Ferguson brace and a stunning free kick from Tom Lister saw second-placed Malpas & District to a 3-2 success at Groves Athletic.

MoM Luke Brown offered a consolation as Westminster Park Lions lost 3-1 at home to Waverton Rockets.

Westminster Park Tigers boosted their Division Two title hopes with a 5-1 home victory over Hope Farm.

With captain Matthew Jones, Eddie Jones, MoM Matty Drew and James Jones impressing, the Tigers ran out comfortable winners with goals from Connor Davies, Laoigh Marrs, Kalyan O’Connor, Liam Ramsden and Alex Arunchot.

The prolific Ben Tideswell (4) and MoM Sam Coleclough were the stars of Elton Youth’s 4-0 home win over Groves Rangers. Saughall fell 3-2 at home to second-placed Princes Villa.

STUART Swift achieved a major milestone as Park Saints won 8-5 at Vicars Cross Dynamos on Sunday to remain joint top of Under 16s Division One.

The hotshot scored his 400th junior football career goal on his way to hitting a hat-trick.

Ben Leaman (4) and Jeff Norris completed the scoring for Saints, for whom Luke Young was the man of the match.

Co-leaders Princes Villa won 5-1 at Pulford (Nathan Evans; MoM Ollie Gregg).

Unbeaten Division Two table-toppers Newton Athletic Eagles were made to work hard for their 1-0 home victory over winless Hope Farm Rangers.

Waverton remain one point off in second after their 7-0 home success over Chester Nomads.

Third-placed Elton Youth (George Mecklenburgh 2, Jonathon Aplas) won 4-2 at Rossway United (Izaac Allmark, Shaun Henderson), while Blacon Youth edged a thriller at Westminster Park 6-5.

Sunday’s sole Under 15s Division encounter saw Saughall Colts win 4-1 at Upton.
