Duo cruise through
CHESTER Nomads and JFC Boughton swept into the quarter-finals of the Chester & District Junior League Under 13s Division Cup on Sunday.
Nomads (Marco Apollonio, Dominic Doherty, George Back, Isaac Robinson, Luke Chard, Harvey France, Tom Forrest, Alex Gore, Cameron Tye) continued their unbeaten home run with a 9-0 win over Vicars Cross Dynamos. Bougthon (Christoph Azimale, Jack Rowland, Cameron Gardiner, Kieran Trevor) settled for 4-1 at Upton (Lee Thomas).
Jack Lumb was the man of the match as Waverton Hornets (Osi Munro, Jordan Davies, Danny Burrows) won 3-0 at home to Hope Farm Rangers in Division Two. Waverton Wasps were 6-0 winners at Malpas & District in Division One.
It was business as usual for Blacon Youth and Malpas & District in the Under 12s Division on Sunday.
Blacon stormed to an 8-1 home success over Chester Nomads Colts, for whom Lee Bryce replied and James Harker was the man of the match. Malpas (MoM Damon Taylor 3,ŠChristophe Forstier 2,ŠPatrick Horrocks, OG) also maintained their 100% winning record, edging a high-quality clash 7-5 at Westminster Park (Liam Eldridge 2, Shelton Tshabangu, Ollie Claireaux, Jack Field). Debutant Aaron Wynne was Park’s MoM.
MoM Henry Smith struck a superb free kick to ensure Newton Athletic shaded an entertaining contest at Vicars Cross Dynamos 1-0.
Upton won the clash of the Under 11s Division Two high flyers 2-1 at Saughall Colts on Sunday.
Man of the match Oscar Welsh hit a hat-trick and Will Morris, James Ferguson, Ed Clowes, Henry Eddleston and Theo Coulter were also on target for Malpas & District in their 9-0 win at Waverton Rockets in Division One. That was a scoreline matched by Groves Athletic at Westminster Park Lions, for whom Angus Jones was the MoM. Vicars Cross Dynamos (Daniel Holland, Owen Bennett, MoM Tom Walsh, Tom Wyatt, Christopher Tillotson) were 5-1 winners at home to JFC Bougthon.
Hot-shot Ben Tideswell (5) and Sam Coleclough got the goals and Matthew Hicks was the MoM as Elton Youth progressed in the U11s Division Cup with a 6-3 success at Westminster Park Tigers (Connor Davies, Matthew Jones, Eddie Jones), for whom Joe Shanley was the MoM.
The Under 10s Division resumed on Saturday.
In the Red Division, unstoppable pacesetters Christleton Newscene won 7-0 at home to Princes Villa; Upton Pumas 9-0 away to Vicars Cross Dynamos Colts and Waverton Rockets 3-2 at home to Saughall Colts.
Runaway Green Division leaders Waverton Arrows powered to a 9-1 home victory over Newton Athletic Eagles with goals from man of the match Luke Simm, Joe Melia, Owen Hughes, James Griffiths, Archie Hughes, Alfie Whealan, Ben Gale and Seb Cory.
Newton Athletic’s superb 100% winning start to the Yellow Division goes on. They triumphed 6-2 at home to Tarvin Athletic with MoM Daniel Edwards (4), Jack Williams and Ryan Horuz finding the net.
In the Blue Division, Malpas & District Reds (Tom Fenney 2, George Smith; MoM Daniel Humes) won 3-1 at Upton Panthers; Waverton Jets 1-0 at home to Malpas & District Blacks (MoM Jack Hinchcliffe) and Helsby (MoM Harry Tilston 2, Oliver Rogers) 3-1 at home to Elton Youth (Callum Bennett; MoM Sam Arundel).
Match to remember
NEWTON Athletic and Westminster Park produced a Chester & District Junior League Under 14s Division Cup classic on Sunday.
The visitors took the lead on four separate occasions, but each time Park fought back through a header and a screamer from man of the match Callum Price, Luke Walker’s solo strike, Jamie Leak’s debut effort and an Ian Speed curler.
But Newton were not to be denied and they nicked it 6-5 thanks to goals from Sean Beales, Daniel Jones, Jay Gilmartin and Kieran Hodgeson.
The top-of-the-table Division One battle between Waverton Wasps and JFC Boughton (Jonny Lee, Dan Williams, Jack Davies) finished 3-3. In Division Two, MoM Jack Flaherty led Pulford (Bradley Naylor 4, Charlie Nock 2, Joel Nevitt) to a 7-1 success at Waverton Bees (Connor Norbury).
Malpas & District booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Under 16s Division Cup with a nail-biting 5-4 penalty shoot-out victory at Newton Athletic Eagles on Sunday.
The epic last-16 tie had finished 3-3 after extra-time with man of the match Ollie Gibbens and Alex Hailes on target for Malpas, who also benefited from an own goal.
Despite a fine performance from MoM Jonathan Aplas, Elton Youth crashed out 4-0 at Princes Villa.
Gareth Roberts struck and Alex Shuttleworth was the MoM but Pulford fell 3-1 at home to a well-organised Newton Athletic Youth side in Division One. Caleb Dollling did the damage and Dean Lawrence was the MoM for Chester Nomads Colts in their 5-0 home win over Hope Farm Rangers in Division Two.
Under 17s Division table-toppers Newtown Athletic sent Vicars Cross Dynamos packing 9-0 on Sunday, but Upton remain hot on their heels after their 3-0 home triumph over Pulford.
